At Fung House, our vision is to create a supportive and empowering environment where every young woman and youth aging out of foster care can achieve self-sufficiency, stability, and success. We envision a future where our residents not only overcome their immediate challenges but also build the skills and confidence needed to thrive independently. Meet Our Founder
Hi! My name is Kimmoy Fung, and I am the Founder of Fung House. I am responsible for the vision and strategy behind Fung House as it grows to become a household name in the South Florida area. As a single mom and a senior accountant, I bring personal and professional experiences to the table, ensuring that our mission is grounded in real-world understanding and empathy.
However, my true calling emerged from my life experiences. Growing up in New York, I witnessed my mother and aunts endure domestic violence. Despite their struggles, they stayed in these relationships for years, leaving a lasting impact on me. My siblings and I were placed within the childcare protective system, and while some siblings went to family members, I was left to care for the younger ones. Eventually, I ended up in an independent living group home called Hope House, a place that changed my life.
At Hope House, I found a supportive environment filled with teenagers on the verge of aging out of foster care. We worked, went to school, and were taught the skills needed to navigate the real world. As an adult, I faced similar cycles of trauma but managed to overcome them, gaining a deep understanding of the challenges that make it difficult for women to leave abusive situations. Questions like "Where could I go?" and "How could I do this by myself?" are all too familiar to me.
These experiences fueled my passion to create Fung House, a place where women and young adults can find the guidance and support they need to succeed. I know firsthand the struggles faced by those aging out of foster care, and I am committed to providing the resources and environment necessary to help them thrive.
Fung House has been a dream of mine for years, and I know it will be successful because my heart and soul reside within it. Our mission is to empower and uplift, creating a community where every young woman and youth aging out of foster care can achieve their fullest potential.
Join us in this journey, and together, we can make a lasting impact!!
